Heritage & community

Founded in 1885 and perched right on the sparkling Canning River at Canning Bridge just 10 minutes from the CBD, Swan River Rowing Club (SRRC) is Perth’s home for rowers of every age and ambition, whether you’re picking up an oar for the first time, chasing a podium through the WAIS/Rowing WA Pathway, or looking for a crew to share dawn on the water. With expert coaching, year-round programs that range through Junior, Senior and Masters, plus a famously supportive club culture and a busy racing and social calendar, SRRC offers the fastest route to fitness, friendship and competitive success.

The Swan River Rowing Club prioritises community as a core value of the club, and actively engages with the City of Melville and the local community wherever possible to promote the sport of rowing and to build long-lasting relationships that benefit the local area.

Pathways & programs

SRRC’s coaching team delivers structured programs for every stage, from “learn-to-row” right through to high-performance squads that feed into Rowing Australia’s national training centres via the WAIS/Rowing WA Pathway Partner initiative. SRRC has a long history of producing State and National team athletes and coaches, and we pride ourselves on maintaining our status as a key high-performance club in Western Australia, developing athletes through rowing and supporting them in achieving their goals.

Flexible membership tiers let you choose the level of commitment that fits, while top-flight equipment, three expansive boat bays and a dedicated strength-and-conditioning gym ensure you can focus on technique, speed and personal goals.

Lifestyle & facilities

Rowing is only part of the equation. Post-row coffees on the balcony or in the adjacent Rowing Pavilion restaurant, club events including our famous steak nights and river-view sundowners cement friendships that last a lifetime. The upstairs function room, regularly hired for birthdays, weddings and corporate events, brings something extra to the club while offering members discounted rates for their own celebrations. Add in active Instagram and Facebook feeds full of sunrise sessions, medal shots and behind-the-scenes camaraderie, and it’s clear why so many Perth locals choose to row with the Swans.
